What is Apraxia?

Childhood apraxia of speech (CAS) is a neurological motor speech disorder that makes it hard for children to speak. Children with the diagnosis of apraxia of speech generally have a good understanding of language and know what they want to say. However, they have difficulty learning or carrying out the complex movements that underlie speech ( Apraxia kids).

Often children with Apraxia of speech have comorbidities which affect their ability to communicate.

My child is non-verbal, could it be Apraxia?

Yes! children do not need to be verbal to be diagnosed with Apraxia of speech.

A comprehensive evaluation will be conducted to determine if the child has apraxia or not.
